Set of hand forged sterling silver cutlery for 12 people in the classic Old English pattern and all in excellent condition. The forks have long and thick tines and substantial bowls on the spoons. The Old English pattern is simple in style with a single drop to the reverse of the bowl. It is the classic and definitive flatware pattern that was first produced in the middle of the 18th century and continues to this day. Sets like this made at the end of the Victorian era and through to the end of the First World War represent the zenith of quality in both workmanship and gauge of silver used in the making.  All pieces were made by George Jackson & David Fullerton of London who produced some of the finest quality silver flatware of the period, in most of the traditional patterns. This set comprises:

12 tablespoons

12 table forks

12 dessert spoons

12 dessert forks

12 teaspoons

Knives of old English cutlery sets rarely survive so this canteen is completed with 12 pairs of matching silver table and dessert knives with stainless steel knives making them suitable for the dishwasher.
