A truly unique silver gilt (gold plated on solid silver) 19-piece dresser set with inset cabochon tiger’s eye gemstones. The set is hand embossed and of superb quality in both weight and workmanship. It comprises a mirror (600mm tall and 510mm at its widest) mounted on a pale green velvet with a leather back. It has an easel for standing upright and a chain for wall hanging. There are six assorted perfume bottles and toilet jars, three pin trays, two hair brushes, one hat brush and one clothes brush. All were made by John Septimus Beresford between 1885 and 1887. In addition, there is a silver gilt sewing box made in London in 1879 by Morris Jonas which should contain three sewing implements but two are missing. All of the above fit into a velvet lined wooden travelling case.
