Victorian military drummer
A beautifully made cast statuette of a drummer from the 17th Foot (The Leicestershire Regiment), with exceptionally fine hand chasing and extraordinary attention to detail. The drummer is also carrying a bugle and bandsman’s pattern sword, and has regimental collar badges with the shoulder strap numerals clearly defined. The curious trial pattern helmet is reminiscent of that tried out by the French army in the early 1900s. The figure is mounted on a black stone plinth.
