Langfords is making one of the finest silver models we have ever undertaken, the Mercedes Benz 540K Spezial roadster. When completed, the model will show in minute detail the engine, the engine bay, the underside and the interior, and our model-maker will have spent more than 400 hours, making this silver model Mercedes. It contains over 500 separate silver components.
Introduced at the 1936 Paris Motor Show and designed by Friedrich Geiger, this particular Mercedes model was a development of the 500K, itself a development of the SSK. Available as both a two- and four-seater cabriolet, four-seater coupé or seven-seater limousine (with armoured sides and armoured glass), it was one of the largest cars of its time.
