Pair of stylish, square-foot silver candlesticks featuring silver panels that are riveted together and taper upwards to dished drip pans. The candle holders sit inside sconces and each has a central spike to hold the candle securely in place.

The design is in the manner of English architect and furniture designer, Charles Francis Annesley Voysey; a style that was made popular during the Arts & Crafts era at the beginning of the 20th century. It was adopted and made popular by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield and this pair is from the earliest period of their production.

The Arts & Crafts movement emerged from a disenchantment with the impersonal, mechanised direction of society in the 19th century, and sought to return to a simpler, more fulfilling way of living. The movement was admired for its use of high quality materials and for its emphasis on utility in design.
