The English setter is one of the oldest gun dog breeds, with a history that traces back to the 14th century. It was named for its practice of "setting" or crouching low when it found game birds so the hunter could throw his net over them. Our model features its characteristic long, flat, wavy coat, moderately long ears and feathered belly and legs.

Langfords' elegant setter is cast in heavy gauge sterling silver using the traditional, centuries-old technique of lost wax casting where molten silver is poured into a mould that has been created by means of a wax model. Once the silver has solidified, the wax model is melted and drained away. Each of our models is then individually hand chased to produce the lifelike effect seen in the finished piece.

For a truly personal model, we can work from photographs to capture the true likeness of your own pet or favourite animal cast in sterling silver. Contact us for more details.
