This late-Victorian cruet set has a simple silver frame with oblong base on four ball feet and plain wirework bottle supports. The six cut glass bottles are all original and three of them - the salt, pepper and mustard pots - have hallmarked silver tops.

The condiments of the day would have included among others a combination of oil, vinegar, mustard, caster sugar, pepper, Tabasco, pepper, soy sauce, ketchup (not the thick bright red stuff we have today).
