Rare and unusual antique silver teapot of superior quality. The ovoid body incorporates the spout. The hinged cover is surmounted by a cast and hand chased wild boar's head representing the Ferguson family crest.

It was made by George Fenwick and upon his death his son took his entire stock of silver to Tobago to set up shop there. The pot was hallmarked in Edinburgh and then again in Tobago.

The Ferguson family were plantation owners on the island. Note, the Museum of Scotland has a pair of candlesticks also by Fenwick Snr that are hallmarked in both Edinburgh and Tobago.
