Neoclassical style antique silver & glass wine jug

Neoclassical style antique silver & glass wine jug

Sold

Antique wine jug with a glass body and silver mounts designed in the neoclassical Adam style featuring typical design features such as an elegant sweeping silver handle and a flip cover raised by an elegant pierced thumbpiece. Bead patterns decorate the silver mounts and the plain glass shows off the colour of the wine to best effect.

As you might expect, this claret jug pours beautifully and its capacity is 1150 ml; more than enough for your favourite Bordeaux or Burgundy.

Neoclassicism was born in Rome in the mid-18th century before spreading throughout Europe. It is the name given to Western movements in the arts and architecture that draw inspiration from the classical art and culture of Ancient Greece or Rome.
