Rare antique Scottish silver soup tureen of fishing interest. The body is beautifully hand chased with images of fishing rods and reels, hooks and reeds, scrolls and shells. An oval shield on one side of the body is engraved with family crests of the Hope and Vere families of Scotland, while the other side features, a fisherman, a gilly and servant in a boat against a lake and landscape background.

The handles are nicely cast in the form of entwined fish, while the detachable finial features two cast salmon with a pearl between them. The fishing and water theme continues as the tureen is mounted on four supports in the form of waves and scrolls.
