Most impressive hand-raised silver bowl or table centrepiece, inspired by and made in an Arts & Crafts design. This fine silver bowl demonstrates the hand-hammered surface around the body and spreading circular base. It is fitted with applied cast and hand chased mounts in high relief, depicting pearls interspersed with scrolling foliage.
As a heavy gauge silver bowl, this piece is of a size that makes it suitable for use as a fruit bowl, a bottle cooler or for a floral display. Of course it looks beautiful as a decorative piece in its own right.
Although made in 1977, Leslie Durban has applied the core characteristics of the Arts and Crafts movement in this piece; a belief in craftsmanship which stresses the inherent beauty of the material, the importance of nature as inspiration, and the value of simplicity, utility and beauty.
