Large silver model hare with characteristically long ears, long front legs and upright stance. This silver hare is carefully hand chased to give a realistic look to his features and fur.

It's thought that the Easter Bunny dates back to the German tradition of 'Osterhase' or Easter Hare, first recoded in the 1500s. Legend has it that the tradition started when a poor woman left colourful painted eggs in her garden for her children to find. When the children found the eggs a large hare was seen hopping away, leading the children to believe that they had been left by the hare.

This heavy quality model is cast in sterling silver using the traditional, centuries-old technique of lost wax casting where molten silver is poured into a mould that has been created by means of a wax model. Once the silver has solidified, the wax model is melted and drained away. The model is then individually hand chased to produce the lifelike effect seen in the finished piece.
