Silver model frog
4458
In a pose ready to jump, this nicely modelled sterling silver frog has the distinctive wide head, large mouth, bulging eyes and bumpy skin. With luck he might turn into a handsome young prince!
Frogs play a variety of roles in culture, appearing in folklore and fairy tales such as the Brothers Grimm story of The Frog Prince, or Wind in the Willows. In ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia frogs symbolised fertility, similarly, in classical antiquity the Greeks and Romans associated frogs with fertility and harmony.
Our heavy quality models are cast in sterling silver using the traditional, centuries-old technique of lost wax casting where molten silver is poured into a mould that has been created by means of a wax model. Once the silver has solidified, the wax model is melted and drained away. Each of our models is then individually hand-chased to produce the lifelike effect seen in the finished piece.
For a truly personal model, we can work from photographs to capture the true likeness of your own pet or favourite animal cast in sterling silver. Contact us for more details.
