Superb quality antique silver tea set by master silversmith, Benjamin Smith III. The set comprises a silver teapot with a flush hinge cover (a sign of superior quality), a milk jug and a sugar basin. Each piece features a stippled, textured surface, and applied cast and hand chased tendrils supporting berries, blossoms and leaves. The handles are decorated with a bark finish and the teapot has insulators fitted to stop the handle from getting hot. The interiors of the basin and jug are gilded to a bright finish.

This is an exceptional set in every way, the substantial gauge of silver employed, the beautiful and unusual decorations as well as the graceful design.

Dimensions are given for the teapot whose capacity is 1.3 litres; approximately eight cups of tea. The weight given is for all three pieces.

Born in 1793, Benjamnin Smith III was the eldest son of Benjamin Smith II, and grandson of B Smith, royal silversmith to King George III and "supplier of the finest articles of silverware for the most important personages of the time".
