Made in 1900, this is an excellent and versatile pair of two-branch, three-light sterling silver candelabra in the neoclassical style, incorporating typical design motifs of the 1780s. Ram's head masks, swags, garlands and beading are in evidence on the detachable branches and candlesticks.

For a more intimate table setting, the branches can be removed and the candlesticks on their own are 310mm (12¼") tall. And for an impressive centrepiece on the table, when both sets of arms are put together they form a single five-light centrepiece 515mm (20¼") tall which sheds greater light across the table. The nozzles are removable for ease of cleaning.

If needed, these sterling silver candelabra are easily dismantled and fitted in their original wooden storage/travelling case.

Neoclassicism was born in Rome in the mid-18th century before spreading throughout Europe. It is the name given to Western movements in the arts and architecture that draw inspiration from the classical art and culture of Ancient Greece or Rome.
