This rare New Gothic sterling silver cutlery pattern was first registered by Chawner & Co, one of the top cutlery makers of the Victorian era and managed by George Adams. It first appeared in the Chawner pattern book in December 1854 and the design reflects the Gothic revival that was fashionable in Britain, which reached its zenith during the mid to late-Victorian era circa 1870.
