Rare tri-form glass jugs with silver mounts, made by premier exponents of the Arts & Crafts movement, Heath & Middleton and influenced by the designs provided by Christopher Dresser, a Scottish designer and design theorist, now widely known as one of the first and most important independent designers.
The Arts & Crafts movement emerged from a disenchantment with the impersonal, mechanised direction of society in the 19th century and advocated a return to a simpler, more fulfilling way of living. The movement was admired for its use of high quality materials and for its emphasis on utility in design.
