This exceptionally elegant Victorian wine jug has a delicately-cut ovoid glass body supported by silver mounts. The round spreading base is hand-chased with arabesques and bead mounts, with a cast knop stem. The body is held by three silver straps that meet the collar with cast adornments of scrolling border and a mask medallion below the spout. The cast handle has a bird head end by which it attaches to the body, a lady's bust on the top and the head of Pan at its base.
The inside of the collar is gold plated and this jug will hold a full bottle of wine.
