Antique silver model of a racehorse & jockey

Antique silver model of a racehorse & jockey

Sold

This stunning sculpture, cast in sterling silver, realistically depicts a standing racehorse and his jockey standing on a textured ground base. The silver model features exceptional attention to detail and is clearly modelled by one of Elkington's finest sculptors, probably Gilbert Halliday.

The horse's jockey, his outfit and boots are all naturally modelled, as is the musculature of the racehorse's body. The tack, bridle and martingale are all acurately rendered.

If presented as a perennial trophy, this silver model could be fitted with a wooden plinth and silver plaque for engraving winners' names.
