Rare set 12 antique silver lobster picks

Rare set 12 antique silver lobster picks

Sold

Lobster picks were usually made in sets of six, so this set of 12 Edwardian sterling silver lobster forks is rare. In classic styling, this set of silver lobster picks features the two-pronged pick fork, an oval centre that is delightfully hand-engraved with an image of a lobster, and a shoehorn-shaped end. They are presented in their original storage box.

During the Victorian period, touching food at the table was considered bad manners except in certain circumstances. By consequence, specialised dining implements such as lobster cracks and picks were a nineteenth century dining refinement.
