A beautifully made antique, Victorian era silver serving tray. The surface is hand engraved in fine detail and includes the inscription

'Presented to John Wellburn Esq. On his appointment as Superintendent of the Line. North Estern Railway, Oct. 16th, 1891. By 827 of the Staff of the York District as an expression of their esteem and regard, also in recognition of his high abilities and the kind interest manifested towards those under his control, for a period of 21 years'

The border of the tray is hand chased. The raised handles are cast and decorated with beading, bellflowers and masks (on the underside).
