Silver brandy warmer & burner stand
7344
Antique silver brandy warming pan, with stand and burner. Although made during the latter part of Queen Victoria's reign, the style harks back to the 1720s.
Fine quality silver brandy warmer sitting on its original stand and spirit warmer for gently heating brandy or mulled wine. The combination of the round bulbous body and the gentle heat helps to distribute the heat evenly and release the full range of flavours and aromas of the spirit. This brandy pan features a sparrow-beak-style spout for easily and neatly pouring the warmed brandy, while the wood handle insulates against the heat and is set at a right angle to the body, again for ease of use. A nice design feature is the heart-shaped handle socket where the handle joins the body of the pan.
The wire burner frame holds the warmer above the spirit burner and wick for a controlled and elegant heating method. The burner and wick should be used with odourless and smokeless spirit fuel, readily available from good hardware shops.
And of course, warm brandy is a treat on any cold evening year round, but this lovely piece comes into its own on Christmas day.
