Silver trophy cup and cover of elegant proportions and designed in the neoclassical style. The raised reeded handles have fanned leaf mounts where they meet the body of the cup and the reed pattern continues around the silver cover and base. Finally, the cover is surmounted by a crisply decorated flute and bead pattern finial.
For use as a perpetual silver trophy, a wooden base and silver plaque could be fitted.
Neoclassicism is the 18th and 19th century movement that developed in Europe as a reaction to the excesses of Baroque and Rococo. The movement sought to return to the classical beauty and magnificence of the Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire and based on simplicity and symmetry.
