Large silver café-au-lait set in the George II style that would have been popular circa 1730. Each pot has a plain tapering body, resting on a moulded collet foot and fitted with light coloured scrolled fruitwood handle. The coffee pot has an elegant cast and panelled swan neck spout.

A café-au-lait set comprises a coffee pot and hot milk jug and, as the name suggests, café-au-lait sets are usually continental and made for the European market, although early English examples are occasionally seen.
