An exceptional and heavy-gauge George III silver sugar basket. It is oval in form with a flared rim that is beautifully engraved with a band of leaf and flower detail against a lined background.
The border of the basket and swing handle both feature a delicate applied bead decoration and there are two engraved cartouches, one of which is engraved with a monogram of entwined initials.
Of course this silver basket need not be confined to holding sugar; it's perfect for serving sweets or nuts too.
