This 18th century silver teapot is engraved with some of neoclassical motifs of the period - floral swags, ribbons and bellflower decorations. Fine silver beading surrounds the rim. This silver teapot can be differentiated from others of the period by the fineness of the hand engraved decorations and the unusual pierced skirt around the base.

A highly skilled craftswoman, Hester Bateman was renowned for her high quality flatware and ornamental silverware, and was the most famous 18th century English female silversmith.
