Heavy quality four-piece Victorian silver tea and coffee service. As excellent examples of the style, each piece of this silver tea and coffee set is beautifully hand chased featuring the classic Louis detail of leaves and flowers with scrolling borders; each piece mounted on cast openwork feet.

The elegant spouts of the teapot and coffee pot are cast with masks and bird heads and, most importantly, they pour perfectly. The scroll leaf-cap handles are insulated with replacement acrylic inserts to comply with all import and export regulations across the world. The hinged lids are surmounted with nicely cast removable eagle finials.

The Louis style became popular during the mid-Victorian era. It was the Victorians' increasing love of profuse embellishment, distancing them from the sparse lines of earlier Georgian styles of tea and coffee sets, which led the silversmiths of the day to create pieces with ever increasing adornment. This is a particularly heavy example of the Louis style tea service, weighing 90 troy oz (2795g)
